Already 1/4 through 2021? That was fast.
Review of the Month - #6
Hey Everyone! 👋
Happy Easter! 🐰
Welcome back to my newsletter, today we’re going to be looking over the month of March! Hope all of you had a fun and productive month.
If it’s your first time here, my name is Jayant Arora and I’m a 16-year-old Innovator at The Knowledge Society (TKS) in Toronto, Canada.
Well, you might be wondering what I did this month. Let’s get right to it!
United Nations x TKS 🧐
Throughout the month, I worked on a challenge with the United Nations focused on increasing women’s employment in the digital economy. My team (Zayn, Archie, Ramil) and I went deeper into solving this problem in Morocco.
Overview of our findings: 👀
Problem: There are lots of female engineering graduates in Morocco but not many of them are employed in fields related to their education. A large portion of Morocco’s economy relies on tourism while the tech and STEM sectors are underrepresented. Women are forced to be employed in family-run tourism jobs due to cultural/social norms without any other option because of the lack of jobs in the tech sector.
Solution: Use laws, government incentives, and a UN certification to make hoteliers design and build upcoming hotels/resorts using a minimum of 50% local female engineers. This UN certification would be a significant marketing incentive for these hoteliers as it will enable them to market themselves as pioneers in socioeconomic change within the tourism industry. Besides this certification, the other incentives will consist of benefits such as tax cuts, lower duties on imported goods for hotels, quicker build permits (all potentially subsidized by the UN), and more.
Personal Website 💻
In March, I finally published my personal website! This was something very exciting for me as I was looking forward to it for a long time. You can type in jayantarora.ca on Google or hit the button below to visit my website!
Brain-Computer Interfaces 🧠
Of course. My newsletters wouldn’t be complete without talking about Brain-Computer Interfaces, haha. This month, I explained my Chrome Dino Project in an article (check it out below). I plan on wrapping up my BCI studies very soon, stay tuned for that next month!
Goals for April 📆
Complete a Brain-Computer Interfaces project
Work on TKS Moonshot — Leveraging emerging technologies to impact billions and present to potential investors, more on this next month
Anyway, that’s it for me! Hope everyone stays safe and does well in April!
Regards,
Jayant Arora
